Exams and results, from the exam master to the declared result

Set up once, and every stage reads the last
The reason to run an exam in one system rather than four spreadsheets is that nothing is entered twice. The master defines the exam, the marks go against it, the grades come from your scheme, and the result is what gets declared.
- Exam master Define it once — name, type, the classes and subjects it covers, and the maximum marks.
- Marks Enter marks per subject, per student. Class tests run the same way, at a smaller scale.
- Grade scheme Each mark maps to the grade your board uses — not a fixed default.
- Declared result Released to a whole class, or to a single student.

Your grade scheme, set to your board
A mark on its own is not a grade until a scheme says so, and schools do not share one scheme. Edoovi maps the mark the way your board does — the same 88 is an A2 under CBSE grade bands, a grade under an ICSE scheme, or simply 88% where you grade on percentage.

Declare the class, hold a student
One held result does not hold the whole class
A result can be held for one student — fees pending, a disciplinary matter, a paper missed — while the rest of the class is declared on time. That single result is released on its own once the reason clears, not when everybody else’s goes out.

Draft, then final
Lock the exam, and the marks stop moving
While an exam is open, marks are still being entered and corrected — that is what it is for. Locking it draws the line: the result is finalised, the marks go read-only, and nobody edits one by accident after it has been declared.

Before you assume it
Four things this does not do
“Exam software” is a broad phrase, so it is worth being exact. These are the four a school could fairly expect are included. None of them are.
- Check the papers Edoovi records the marks a teacher awards. It does not read an answer script or grade a subjective answer — there is no OMR reader and no AI marking here.
- Decide pass or fail The pass mark, the promotion rule and the grace policy are your school’s. The software applies the rule you set; it does not invent one, and it will not tell you a child has failed on a policy you did not write.
- Publish to a board Declaring a result inside Edoovi releases it to your school — students, parents, the report card. Uploading marks to a CBSE or state-board portal is still done on the board’s own system.
- Run the exam online This manages the marks and the result of an exam a school conducts. Conducting an objective exam on screen, with a question bank and a timer, is the separate online-exam module.

What is exam and result management software?

Can we hold one student's result while declaring the class?
Yes, that is exactly what result hold is for. A class result can go out while one student's stays held — for pending fees, a disciplinary matter or a missed paper — and that single result is released on its own once the reason is cleared, without holding back everybody else.
What does locking an exam do?
Once marks are finalized, an exam can be locked so they stop being editable. It is the line between a working draft and a declared result: before the lock, marks are still being entered and corrected; after it, the result is fixed and nobody changes a mark by accident.
Can we grade the way our board does?
