The message reaches the parent, not the bottom of a school bag
School communication software sends the same notice by app, SMS and WhatsApp, to whoever it is meant for — the whole school, one class, one student, the staff room or a single bus route. Edoovi sends from reusable templates that fill in each family's own details.
- In every plan, from Stepper
An illustration of a school message being sent to a class: a notice about sports day moving to Saturday goes to 42 parents, and the delivery ticks turn from one to two.
Why this exists
Everybody has found the circular on Monday
A notice that depends on a nine-year-old remembering to hand it over is not a notice. It is a hope. And the parent who missed it is the one who rings the office on the day it mattered.
Friday, 3:40 pm
- Handed out at the gate Reaches whoever was at school that day.
- Sent in the diary Reaches the parent who opens the diary.
- Put on the notice board Reaches whoever walks past it.
A message sent to the parent’s own phone does not depend on anybody remembering anything.
Who gets it
Pick who it goes to. Watch the number change.
Six ways to choose, and every one of them is built from the school’s own records — so the list is never a pasted set of numbers that went stale two sessions ago.
42 parents
A single class or section.
Example counts, to show what changes.
Written once
Write it once. It fills in the rest.
A template is a message with the changing parts left blank. When it goes out, each family’s own details drop into those blanks — so three hundred fee reminders are one message, and nobody sends the wrong amount to the wrong parent.
Roll positions and an example amount. No real family, and no real figure.
An illustration of a fee reminder template with three blanks — the student, the amount and the due date — being filled in with each family’s own details as it is sent.
Three routes
One notice. However that family actually reads things.
A school does not get to decide which phone a parent owns. The same message goes by all three, so the family without a smartphone is not the family that misses everything.
-
In the app
Free and unmetered. Sits with attendance, fees and homework.
-
By SMS
For the family with no smartphone. Counted against your allowance.
-
On WhatsApp
The app most Indian parents already have open.
Sends itself
The three nobody has to remember
A reminder that depends on somebody noticing is a reminder that does not go out in the week it is needed. These three are tied to the thing happening, so they leave on their own.
-
A student is marked absent
Aarav was marked absent today. If this is unexpected, please call the school office.
-
Attendance slips under your threshold
Attendance is now 71%, below the school minimum of 75%. Please see the class teacher.
-
A fee falls due
School fees of 4,200 are due on 10 August. You can pay from the Edoovi Parent app.
Example wording and an example amount. What is fixed is that these three are tied to the event rather than to somebody’s memory.
On screen
What the office actually opens
One screen, in the same system the register and the fee ledger live in. There is no separate messaging tool to buy, to learn, or to keep a contact list in.
- Pick the recipients first The six choices sit at the top, so nobody writes a message and then finds out it is going to the wrong people.
- Choose a saved template Or write a fresh one. Either way it is there next time.
- See the count before sending How many people it will reach is on screen before the button is pressed.
What it costs to send
Sending is in every plan. SMS is the part that gets counted.
App notifications are not metered, so most schools keep the SMS allowance for the families who are not on the app. What the higher plans add is the allowance, not the ability to send.

Communication questions
What a school asks before it starts sending
Can we send to one class without messaging the whole school?
Yes. A message can go to the whole school, one class or section, a single student, the staff, everyone on one bus route, or the enquiries that have not converted yet. The recipient list is built from the same records the register and the fee ledger use, so it is never a pasted list of numbers that has gone stale.
Does the same message go out on WhatsApp and SMS both?
The app, SMS and WhatsApp are the three routes a school message can take. A family with the app installed sees it there; the same notice still reaches a parent who has no smartphone, which is the reason all three exist rather than just the cheapest one.
What is a message template, in practice?
A message written once with the parts that change left blank — the student, the amount, the date. When it goes out, each family's own details fill those blanks. Nobody retypes a fee reminder three hundred times, and nobody sends the wrong amount to the wrong parent.
Which messages send themselves?
The ones tied to something happening: a student marked absent, attendance slipping under the school's threshold, a fee falling due. Those go out without anybody remembering to send them, which is the only way they actually go out.
How many SMS do we get?
SMS is included per student per year and the allowance depends on the plan — 100 per student per year on Elevator and 200 on Accelerator. App notifications are not metered, so most schools spend the SMS on the families who are not on the app.
Is communication part of the base plan?
Yes. The communication feature is in Stepper, the entry plan, alongside student records, fees and attendance. What the higher plans add is the SMS allowance rather than the ability to send.

Send one circular on it
One class, one notice, your own parent list. A messaging demo is only worth anything when the message actually lands on somebody’s phone.
